Please join us on Sunday 13th September at 3pm for TenderChats, our ongoing series of live conversations. We invite Style Director Ruth Sleightholme to discuss Top Shelf at the Tenderbooks Reading Room as part of our programme with the Brompton Design District at London Design Week.
Top Shelf is a one-off limited-edition publication devoted to sex and erotica in design, published alongside The World of Interiors’ body-themed issue of September 2026. Through a selection of fascinating essays and objects from a range of historical eras and cultures, Top Shelf examines how desire is expressed, concealed and subtly staged within the home.
Ruth Sleightholme has been the Style Director of The World of Interiors since 2025, having previously been the Style Director at House & Garden, where she produced and art directed House & Garden’s lead decoration and style photoshoots for over a decade, as well as writing longform articles. Ruth has also worked as a freelance interiors stylist, producing commercial shoots and installations for clients such as Morris & Co and OKA. She is a sheep farmer by upbringing, and loves to embark on decorative projects from picassiette to shell-work.
TenderChats is an ongoing series of 30-minute musings on the magic and permanence of printed matter. A twice-monthly series of live conversations will be hosted by writer and publisher Dal Chodha.
