Please join us for an autumn get-together at Tenderbooks to celebrate three recent Poetic Pastel Press publications.
Jatinder Singh Durhailay & Suren Seneviratne : Petit Oiseau
(Edited by Johanna Tagada, designed by 75W Studio)
Olivia Fiddes : Soft-Soils (Edited by Johanna Tagada)
The final copies of Journal du Thé - Contemporary Tea Culture
(in collaboration with 75W Studio, edited by Johanna Tagada & T. S. Wendelstein).
Petit Oiseau is the first publication set including printed matter and a CD of the musical duo of painter and multi-instrumentalist Jatinder Singh Durhailay and experimental sound artist Suren Seneviratne. The project brings together rare classical Indian string instruments played by Durhailay known as the Dilruba and the Taus, unusually combined with Seneviratne’s custom software modular synth patches programmed on an E-MU Command Station synthesiser. With an essay by Harr-Joht Takhar. Past performances include The V&A Museum, The Design Museum and The Church of Sound.
Soft Soils is a an introduction to the practice of Scottish London-based ceramic artist and designer Olivia Fiddes, who’s work is characterised by an elegant imperfection, playfulness and simplicity.
Her pieces are primarily created using traditional hand building techniques. Johanna Tagada has been documenting Olivia’s work through photography for over three years.
Finally we are happy to share the final stock of the second Chapter of Journal du Thé - Contemporary Tea Culture , which is nominated this year at The Stack Awards (T. S. Wendetsil in the category Art Director of the Year).
We look forward to welcoming you with complimentary tea. On the occasion, a Poetic Pastel tea-themed window installation including paintings by artist Johanna Tagada and ceramics by Olivia Fiddes will be on display until November 7th 2019. In the bookshop there will also be an installation of paintings by Jatinder Singh Durhailay, all works are available for sale.
