WERK Magazine No. 17: Eley Kishimoto.
First edition of 1000 copies. Quarto. 336pp of illustrations with fabric samples of variable dimensions bound into the book. Singapore: WERK Magazine, 2010.
An incredible collaboration between fashion brand Eley Kishimoto and Singapore-based WERK Magazine. Each copy of this issue of WERK is an entirely unique production with a bundle of fabrics from the Eley Kishimoto archive bound to the book and held in place using dress-making pins. The publication is conceived as a 'textile work-in-progress' with a section of fabric 'pages' making a beautiful tactile beginning to the publication.
The body of the magazine acts as a visual scrapbook including family photographs and an archive of Eley Kishimoto prints. Plus looks from artist Sophie Calle and actress Catherine Deneuve and artwork from Enrico David interspersed with a diary of sketches, installations and shoots. A remarkable publication brimming with ideas and generosity.
