Kira Freije: Unspeak The Chorus

Kira Freije: Unspeak the Chorus explores the emotionally charged works of British artist Kira Freije. The artist’s sculpted figures are connected by a deep sense of kinship, while remaining individually absorbed in their own thoughts or imaginings. This publication, accompanying her exhibition at The Hepworth Wakefield, delves into her unique uses of aluminium, steel, and blown glass.

The book is beautifully designed by Studio Mathias Clottu, with striking installation photography by Lewis Ronald. An interview between Kira Freije and Laura Smith gives a unique perception onto Freije’s work, while essays by Jennifer Higgie, Amy Budd and Jamieson Webster provide insight into her creative processes, and a poetic contribution by Vanessa Onwuemezi offers a profound understanding of the artist’s transformative practice.
