Homebodies - Maureen Muse
Homebodies is a series of portraits taken by the artist and curator Maureen Muse. Maureen's art practice centers on ideas that aim to expand and rethink what an image is and can be through processes based methods that incorporate cinema, photography and installation. For her first publication, she created Homebodies a photo series that was taken over the course of years while living in Mexico City, New York and her childhood home in Boston. The subjects in the book are of strangers, friends and family. The portraits were often taken in intimate settings and capture the often delicate relationship individuals have with their own bodies and themselves.
This is the first volume of Homebodies and preludes the second volume which also presents a series of photographs and found images which visualize how the body exists as an image and how the image through material and time transforms.
