ROBERTSON, Helie.
ESPRIT: The Making of an Image. [With Pin Badges].
First edition. 4to. 199pp with colour photography throughout. Colour photographic card wrappers with the original clear plastic slipcase printed with white logo. San Francisco: Esprit De Corp, 1985.
Produced in 1985, at the height of its reign as 1980s powerhouse, this is the story of the ESPRIT brand. The book takes the style of a family album and is written from the perspective of 4-year old Rocco Toscani, the little boy of fashion photographer Olivier Toscani, who also shot for Benetton and Fiorucci. This immensely fun publication is packed with behind-the-scenes shots, catalogue shoots and ad campaigns mingled with photos of parties and the founders' family holidays. We even get an introduction to everyone in the ESPRIT office team. This copy comes with a set of super cute pin badges designed with a different animal to spell out every letter of the brand name: an Elephant, a Seal, a Penguin, a Rhinoceros, an Iguana and a Tapir.
