Mamezara is a small, cute plate that fits in the palm of your hand. In Japan these tiny plates are used for condiments, pickles and sauces. Here two appropriately small books explore this tradition by documenting hundreds of examples to show the incredible craftsmanship of these small ceramics with their intricate designs and shapes. Volume two also includes an essay identifying some common motifs such as flowering plants, mountains and water, good fortune patterns and playful hearts.
