Enzo Mari's beautiful 'game without rules' based on fables for children. Mari supplies 'forty-five animals, the sun, the moon, a rifle, a cage, a chestnut husk, eight trees, a log, nine canes, five stones, an apple, a mound of earth, a nest, and two eggs'. This whimsical cast of characters appears illustrated on twelve card tablets that may be slotted together to compose a story with infinite possibilities.
Mari envisioned that the images wouldn't need to be read in any particular order with no hierarchies between the animals and their natural world.. 'It is a compositional game; animals with animals, animals with plants, animals with stones, stones with animals, plants with man..'
A gorgeous object showing Mari's genius for stimulating the imagination within a simple format.
