Rubbish Dipping Sauce Grass Peonie Bum - Maisie Cousins

The first photographic monograph by Maisie Cousins comprises her most iconic images from 2015 to 2019. Within the shiny gold cover are 44 full colour full bleed images selected from her three most significant series: Rubbish, Dipping Sauce, Grass Peonie Bum. The book was a finalist in the Paris Photo Aperture First Photobook Award 2019. With a foreword by Simon Baker, Director of Maison Europeenne de la Photographie, Paris: Hers is a world where not only do disconnected things resemble one another, but things fail to resemble themselves. In place of resemblance, everything is covered instead in a thick viscous layer of brilliant colour; a tactile varnish that transforms things alchemically but somehow also, at the same time, leaves them untouched.
