Madame Bovary by Gustave Flaubert with art by Marc-Camille Chaimowicz
£20.00
Flaubert’s great novel is lavishly illustrated with over 250 images created for this volume by Marc Camille Chaimowicz. The text of the novel is included complete, set in a new typeface, specially comissioned for this edition, based on fonts in use in France in the 1800s.
For this edition, John Morgan Studio developed a new typeface, Berthe, named after Emma Bovary’s neglected child for an edition of Flaubert’s Madame Bovary. They commissioned and worked with Charles Mazé, who drew this bespoke version based on a Deberny specimen of Série 16 from 1894.
