Living the Dream: 1990s Nostalgia - Simon Pentleton
Limited to just 250 copies, Living the Dream brings together a previously unseen body of photographs made by Simon Pentleton while living on New York's Lower East Side in the 1990s.
Focusing on his creative and personal relationships with the likes of Jamie King and Chloe Sevigny, it moves between intimate portraits of friends, chance encounters and the surrounding streets, the photographs reveal Pentleton's experience of downtown New York - precarious, seductive and slightly off-kilter. His experimentation with film is integral to the work, embracing grain, movement, colour and chance as part of the photographic process.
Published for the first time almost thirty years after the photographs were made, Living the Dream is both a personal archive and a photographic exploration - an intimate record made from within the life it describes.
