Leftover Paper on Our Tables - BOOK A TABLE
Leftover Paper on Our Tables is the first publication self-published by BOOK A TABLE. Inspired by 72 sheets of Munken paper leftover from Guo Yu's graduation project, they used "leftover paper" as the theme and "table" from the studio's name as the location. Chen and Yu collected and scanned scraps of leftover paper on their desks individually, and the resulting images were Riso printed on the same 72 Munken paper stock to the actual size. Printing leftover paper on leftover paper, it is as if you're holding a pile of scraps paper on their desk.
The binding highlights the connection and difference between the images. When each section faces the other, it starts a dialogue. The left side represents Yu's desk, and the right side represents Chen's desk. Yu and Chen come from different backgrounds but studied the same major at university. Along with the limited information carried on the paper, it also reflects the character and background of the paper's owner. Being the first publication of BOOK A TABLE, Yu and Chen introduce themselves implicitly to the audience.
BOOK A TABLE is a design practice and self-publishing studio based in London and Beijing, founded by Guo Yu and Qiaochu Chen.
