Elegant women’s periodical of the Belle Epoque era, established in 1901, that dubbed itself ‘The ideal magazine for women and girls’. Femina was one of the first photographic magazines aimed solely at women to appear in France. The magazine effectively created a new female role model who balanced established bourgeois convention with new equalities - a powerful image of French modern femininity.
