Tenderbooks is excited to announce a display of book works by edition hansjörg mayer.

Hansjörg Mayer, born 1943 in Stuttgart, is a poet, typographer, and publisher. Through his imprint, edition hansjörg mayer, he produced pioneering works of concrete poetry and artists publications with Dieter Roth, Richard Hamilton, Tom Phillips, André Thomkins, Emmett Williams and many others.

The display at Tenderbooks will feature key works that illustrate Mayer’s fresh approach to colour, the space of the page and relationships between letterforms. These will include a complete set of the broadsheet series futura, a collection of twenty six works featuring Bob Cobbing, Peter Schmidt, Robert Filliou, Pierre Garnier and others. A rare trio of spiral-bound artist books published in 1967 featuring Reinhard Dohl, Franz Mon and Ludwig Harig, with vivid Day-Glo wrappers, will also be available.

The Tenderbooks window will house an installation of issues of the small square publication edition rot, typeset and printed by Mayer from 1964, featuring work by Mayer himself as well as Ernst Jandl, Dieter Roth and Mira Schendel. Each publication in the series bears the enigmatic quotation by Ernst Bloch 'there are also red secrets in the world, yes, only reds'.
