Daniel Spoerri's Eat Art Movement

A new list of ephemera and publications celebrating Daniel Spoerri's radical performative food movement 'Eat Art'.

Our list traces Spoerri's fascination with the rituals of eating, exploring his output as gallerist, chef, curator and restauranteur. 'Eat Art' frequently employed the fertile imaginations of Spoerri's colleagues including Joseph Beuys, George Brecht, Robert Filliou, Dorothy Iannone, Dieter Roth, André Thompkins and Emmett Williams.

This short list of twelve items features a collection of original poster announcements from the Düsseldorf Eat Art Galerie, invitations in the form of a napkin and a menu, a document of a salad happening and a recipe-song for leopard soup. This sampling of works demonstrates Spoerri's vibrant approach to transforming the 'ritual of calorie replenishment'.
