Extensive catalogue for the exhibition at the Centre Pompidou in 1976. The exhibition was designed by avant-garde Austrian filmmaker Peter Kubelka and featured 95 artists. The exhibit sought to address the origins of cinema as well as contemporary approaches, it marked an important moment in which the museum addressed the representation of film within its collection, seeking to acquire works for permanent display alongside other art forms such as sculpture, painting and photography. The catalogue features Chantal Ackerman, Kenneth Anger, Jean Cocteau, Joseph Cornell, Maya Deren, Malcolm Le Grice, Maurice Lemaitre, Man Ray, Yvonne Rainer, Michael Snow, Agnes Varda and many others.
