Square Peg. Issue 21.

Square Peg. Issue 21.

Illustrated self-wrappers (25cm. Square), staple-bound. 47pp. B&w illustrated contents with photographs, illustrations and numerous adverts. London: Square Peg, [circa 1987].
Wrappers lightly creased but well preserved overall.

One issue of the uncommon 1980s queer arts serial Square Peg that dubbed itself a 'journal for contemporary perverts'. Experimental in design by layering cartoon, photography and numerous classifieds alongside poetry and short fiction submitted by readers. The editorial apologises for the £2 price tag and has a playful dig at Neville Brody in its typesetting. Features in this issue include Simon Watney on civil disobedience in relation to the AIDS crisis, as well as 'Lezzies Let Loose in Bognor', mudlarking, beauty tips, film reviews and 'costume drama'.
