The much-coveted first issue of Purple Prose, an experimental literary zine from the creators of Purple Fashion. Produced in a period when the editors Elein Fleiss and Olivier Zahm were writing art criticism and curating exhibitions, this publication demonstrates the breadth of their interests. Zahm says of the project: "We launched Purple Prose in the early 1990s without any means, and without any experience, because we wanted to make a magazine that was radically different. We wanted to support the artists around us that no one else supported, much less talked about. “ In this debut issue cultural theory is mixed with poetry and conversation featuring Martin Kippenberger, Dike Blair, Andrea Zittel and Kim Gordon’s band ‘Kitten’.
