POSER is a book/magazine series created by Ho Tam, published in limited edition of 250 copies. With his obsessive snapshots taken from various locations, each issue of POSER features a particular theme and subject. Within an encounter of a few seconds, the artist asks for the permission from strangers to be photographed. The interaction therefore becomes a performance of both parties. Each issue of POSER is full of candid poses and quirky personalities from the participating individuals, while as a whole it becomes a social study of the grouping. Shot in a fairground in Toronto in the end of the Summer 2003, POSER 3 celebrates and questions the masculinity of men and boys with stuffed toys.
