Three Issues of Housewife Fanzine.

Three Issues of Housewife Fanzine.
Issues 22, 24 and 28. 18mo (150 x 100 mm). 16pp. Colour illustrations in stapled self-wrappers. French & English text. Paris: Le Pulp, [c. 1999].

Three issues of Housewife, a scarce lesbian 'minimagazine' produced in the late 1990s. Housewife was created by artist Dana Wyse and filmmaker Axelle Le Dauphin and freely distributed as the in-house fanzine of the uber cool lesbian nightclub Le Pulp in Paris. Le Pulp was well-known for its roster of electronic music DJs including Scratch Massive, SexToy and Laurent Garnier. The Housewife fanzine advertised the monthly music programme of Le Pulp together with collage, autofictional text and gossip. Part cut-up or campy conceptual artwork (one issue is completely absent of content apart from its cover art), the tone of the publication is irreverent, and self-mocking. Across its pages Dana Wyse creates artwork from colourful appropriated advertising imagery with fake classifieds for a set of Lesbian Encyclopaedias or the 'Dyke Zone Detection Device' to find out if your sister is gay.
