A lightly worn, thumbed copy.
Number 24 in the Hanuman series edited by Raymond Foye and Francesco Clemente. Inspired by Indian prayer books the volumes are ‘small in size and bright in colour, were always dedicated to the writings of a particular guru or saint, and were intended to be carried around with ease in a shirt pocket for potential contemplation throughout daily life’.
Ginsberg’s palm-sized offering for Hanuman gives a reading of William Blake’s revolutionary thought and vision, especially his writings on the fallen god Urizen. Ginsberg presents Blake as a disillusioned radical who struggles with the same conflicts as citizens in contemporary America.
