Supermarket - Jacob Nzudie
8vo. 140pp colour plates in colour illustrated wrappers. English and French texts. Marseille: Le Bec en L’air, 2012.
A powerful body of work shot by Jacob Nzudie in a Cameroon supermarket. The setting is significant; it is a supermarket for privileged customers, often Western expatriates, and not used by most Cameroonians. Nzudie began using the supermarket as a studio out of financial necessity and sought in turn to examine the location as a kind of dream machine of consumer fantasy. This artist book is published to document a presentation at the Rencontres d’Arles in 2011 together with essays and an interview.
