A Notebook at Random gives a deep insight into Irving Penn's career and work, by arranging his work as a dynamic scrapbook. Included here are some of Penn's signature images from his very first photograph made on assignment for Vogue in 1943, to a previously unpublished portrait of Truman Capote. The images are accompanied by Penn's notes, sketches and doodles, that serve to provide a new insight into his radical compositions, experiments with light and unique print techniques.
