The Simple Heart of Plywood - A Publication by 1 9 3 4
Taking the title from the words of Gerald Summers, this book hopes to shed light on the subject of plywood furniture produced by Makers of Simple Furniture – a company founded by Summers and his wife Marjorie (officially in 1931). Their work was based on the sole potential of plywood, and their catalogue of furniture ranged from hand-cut dove-tail jointed, flat sheet rectangular cabinets to almost-free formed armchairs using a single piece of plywood; small desk tidies to full scale interior projects.
Summers is a name that is not totally unheard, but whose work is scarcely seen.
