Weight of the Earth : The Tape Journals of David Wojnarowicz - Lisa Darms and David O'Neill ed.
David Wojnarowicz recorded himself reflecting on his life, art, and dreams in what he called "tape journals". Recorded in 1981, 1982, 1988, and 1989, the cassettes capture Wojnarowicz's ideas unfolding in real time. By turns despairing, funny, exalted, and angry, this volume covers a period largely missing from Wojnarowicz's written diaries. Whether talking about why he makes art, recounting the previous night's dream, wrestling with thoughts of death in the wake of his AIDS diagnosis, or wondering why a boyfriend never calls, Weight of the Earth provides an intimate view into the life and work of a singular American artist.
